Purchase Analysis: Overview of Purchases and Ordering Behavior
Sara Meert
It would be helpful to have a clear report of all purchases, so you can better understand where your money is going and how you order.
This overview consists of two parts:
*By supplier
- See how much you order from each supplier
- View total amount and number of orders
- Useful for comparing prices and negotiating better
*By product
- See how often you purchase a product (e.g. monthly or sporadically)
- Understanding ordering behavior helps to buy smarter (e.g. buying larger quantities or ordering less often)
With this overview, you can:
- save costs
- place small orders less often
- better respond to supplier discounts
- manage your stock more efficiently

By getting an overview of which orders have been placed with a particular supplier in each x period, I am stronger in negotiating better margins. To do this, I need a volume and a purchase amount in a chosen period

It would be nice to see how many times a year you buy certain products so that you can buy smarter, for example when your company offers discounts. if you have an overview of product X, I buy every month and product Y (only twice a year), you can buy product X for 12x and product Y for 2x with 1 purchase. And this with any discounts, so you win on the sales price and you are not constantly replenishing stock and paying shipping costs for ah every time.
